Omnetics Connector latching Micro-D connector

Omnetics Connector has produced a latching system on its Micro-D connectors that replaces screws with finger-release side latches.

The system is available in two different ways. The first option is to have the latching mechanism built directly into a metal housing, designed specifically with the latching system in mind. The second way allows users to retrofit the latching mechanism into existing Micro-Ds.

The retro kit uses the standard holes typically used to house the different styles of retention screws.

The latching connector is supplied with standard pin counts from 9-51 positions and is organised on a 50 mil (1.27 mm) pitch, using the same contact system that the company uses in its QPL Micro-Ds per MIL-DTL-83513. The performance matches and exceeds the requirements of MIL-DTL-83513.

The latching process quickly mates and de-mates as needed without the use of tools or the need to unscrew fasteners.
